Well, it doesn't look like this baby will be here during my extended state holiday time off. Well darn! That would have been convenient. Looks like I have to endure some more looks and stares and questions "Are you stil here?" The good news is that most state employees will take tomorrow and Friday off....so hopefully I can hide in my cubicle and go unnoticed for a bit. I never thought I would say this, but I am actually looking forward to going back to work tomorrow since I have been bored to tears here at home! I also had planned to take New Year's Eve off (my due date) since Caleb will be off....but I may just go in now...this sitting around at home business is for the birds!
Oh...and in case you were wondering (stop reading if you don't want too much information), I started losing bits of my mucous plug on Christmas Eve. I've lost a little bit each day. At least my cervix is opening some! That's progress being made. However, I was kind of hoping that I would lose it all at once and immediately go into labor like 30 minutes later. Hasn't happened! Wishful thinking! The thing about mucous plugs is that they are no indicator of when labor will start. Some people go weeks without it or pieces of it. I knew this, yet remained hopeful. Oh well....this little guy will come when he is good and ready....and I just need to be at peace about that. Easier said than done!

hey problem, old roomie! i glad you found it helpful. i'll probably go back and read it all myself pretty soon! sounds like you guys had a fun christmas. we did too. all the parents came to us, so it was happy madness... and since it's rachel's last christmas as being the only grandchild they went crazy over her. she probably opened at least 30 presents. (now i just have to find places to PUT them all!)
i read something interesting once about one of the things that lets the baby know it's time to get the heck out (can't remember where i read/heard this), but (unless you're induced or something) the baby will stay while he is still getting sufficient nutrients. when labor starts the baby has realized, "hey i'm starving to death here! time for big kid things!" i just thought it was an intersting tidbit of info :)
Ooohh, exciting!
And some more TMI... remember sex can help too! http://www.maternitycorner.com/mcmag/articles/preg0007.html
whatever you do, just don't even try the castor oil. trust me. please.
well, i've heard it worked for so many people, so i tried it the day before my due date. #1: i've never put anything so repulsive in my mouth. it was like a gel... and it kept kicking in my gag reflex all on its own. #2: it couldn't have worked less. i just had to visit the potty all day. so it was a complete waste of time. it was just such a horrible day that even if i'm a week late, i don't think i could try it again. i'm grossed out just thinking about it!
great week-end
